Stars Past Award Recipients
The Stars program was created to support, encourage, and recognize student leadership and achievement in Student Life programming. Each spring semester individuals and registered student organizations are recognized for their outstanding contributions to campus life and tradition.

Past Award Recipients
The 2012 Stars nomination forms can be submitted electronically until Friday, March 30th at 5:00PM. All individual nominees must be involved in Office of Student Life programming and organization awards are for registered student organizations only.
The 2012 Nominators, Nominees, and Award Winners will be invited to the Stars Reception on Monday, April 23rd at 6:00PM located in the UC Rotunda.

Stars Reception
The 2012 Nominators, Nominees, and Award Winners will be invited to the Stars Reception on Monday, April 23rd at 6:00 p.m. located in the UC Rotunda.
Once the closing date for nomination forms has passed, an RSVP will be electronically sent to Nominators, Nominees, and Award Winners.
Central Michigan University provides individuals with disabilities accommodations to participate in university activities, programs, and services. Individuals with disabilities requiring an accommodation should call the Office of Student Life at 989-774-3016 at least one week prior to the event.
Star Nominations
The deadline to nominate for STARS is: Friday, March 30th by 5PM.
Please visit the CMU Directory to make sure that the correct email, name spelling, and year are provided for all nominees. There is no limit to the number of nominees an individual can nominate.

Stars Award Descriptions
Rising Star Award
A rising star is a student who has recently become involved in Student Life programming. This student shows promise in his or her leadership potential.
When nominating a rising star, please address how the student has shown excitement and creativity in their involvement.
Shooting Star Award
A shooting star is a student who has taken leadership in Student Life programming. This student has a proven record in his or her leadership skills.
When nominating a shooting star, please address how the student has shown talent and drive in their involvement.
Shining Star Award
A shining star is a student who has shown significant involvement and leadership in Student Life programming. This student is a reliable leader and team member with skills seasoned by diverse involvement.
When nominating a shining star, please address how the student has shown vision and maturity in their involvement.
Constellation Award
A constellation awardee is a student who has made a tremendous difference in Student Life programming. The student has shown deep commitment and has modeled an understanding of the programmatic goals. This student has mentored new leaders, initiated or expanded programming and leaves a legacy upon graduation. The awardee has shown a true love and commitment to CMU.
This student will be a graduating senior and will be selected only by the Office of Student Life staff. There is no set number of recipients each year.
President's Award
Presented to an individual who has excelled as the President of an organization, through the use of leadership and organization development. Nominees must have served a full term as president by the end of the academic year.
Outstanding Advisor Award
Presented to a student organization advisor is recognized for the outstanding job they have done. Nominations should include information about the advisor's leadership style, commitment, and contributions to the organization.
Outstanding Program Award
Presented to an organization for a program that is recognized for its excellence.
Most Innovative Program Award
Presented to an organization that has created a new program/activity that has enhanced campus life. The program should be unique and have a new twist or approach.
Outstanding Service Award
Presented to an organization for a volunteer or philanthropy project. The program will have been exceptional and creative in its implementation and presentation. The program will have demonstrated commitment to community service.
Stars FAQs
Is there a limit to the number of students we can nominate?
No, there is no limit to the number of nominations from any one group or individual.
Does other involvement outside of the Office of Student Life count for an award?
The awards will be given for involvement within the Office of Student Life programs or registered student organizations. Involvement in other areas will support nominations but will not stand on its own. For clarification on Office of Student Life sponsored programming, please visit www.stulife.cmich.edu.
Is The Stars Reception open to anyone?
At this point, the event is open to anyone. If space becomes an issue, it may be closed only to winners, nominees and nominators.
